The Lenticular Clouds of Mount Shasta

Lenticular clouds are some of the most fascinating weather phenomena known to man and while they are not unique to Mount Shasta the particular conditions surrounding the mountain make it an ideal location for the creation of these floating works of art.

Did you know?

  • Many UFO sightings have been attributed to lenticular clouds, since they tend to look like spaceships in fiction and movies.
  • Local legend is that big lenticular clouds over the mountain hide the Lemurian Mothership visiting!

You can see many spectacular photos of lenticular clouds in our exhibit while also learning a bit about what they are and how they form. Who knows, you may even get lucky and see a real lenticular form while you are visiting Mt. Shasta!
